The Mad Ants have acquired Kevin Coble and Ben McCauley from the available player pool and have also reacquired Devan Downey who is recovering from an ankle injury. The Mad Ants have waived Sean Sonderleieter and Sadiel Rojas due to injury. Mike Tisdale has left the team due to personal reasons.
McCauley, a 6’9” forward out of NC State, has spent the last two seasons overseas playing in both France and Belgium. He participated in NBA Summer Leagues for the Lakers in 2009 and 2010 and the Magic in 2010. As a senior at NC State he averaged 12.4 points and 7.8 rebounds per game.
Coble, a 6’8” forward, played three seasons at Northwestern. He averaged 15.5 points and 4.8 rebounds per game during his final college season.
Before he was waived due to injury, Downey was averaging 11 points and 3.6 assists per game.
The Maine Red Claws have acquired Hamady N'Diaye from the Available Player Pool. A 2010 Draft selection of the Minnesota Timberwolves, the 7-0, 236 lb. center joins the Red Claws after having spent the past two seasons in the Washington Wizards organization.
N’Diaye, who had never played basketball until high school, set school records at Rutgers University for blocks in a season (145) and career (358) before being named the All Big East Defensive Player of the Year in 2010. The Senegal native was drafted 56th overall by the Minnesota Timberwoves in 2010 before his rights were traded to the Washington Wizards.
The Clippers will sign Bobby Simmons from the D-League to a 10-day contract following the All-Star break.
Simmons had a breakout season with the Clippers in 04-05.
He has been averaging 13.5 points and 7.6 rebounds for the Reno Bighorns.
Simmons has a True Shooting Percentage of 60.6% and rebound rate of 14.01%.
Derrick Caracter will join the Rio Grande Valley Vipers of the D-League.
Caracter was recently waived by the Lakers.
The departure of Mike James from the Erie Bayhawks of the D-League one day before signing a 10-day deal with the Bulls was cited as being for "personal reasons."
But the way in which James left disturbed a few members of the organization.
"Mike had his own agenda, per se," said teammate Kyle Spain. "That's probably why I'm not surprised that he had left."
James has a long history of short stays throughout his basketball career.
The Maine Red Claws have acquired guard Mike Gerrity from the Available Player Pool.
Gerrity most recently played for the Erie BayHawks, where he averaged 7.3 ppg in 18 games played this season, including 8.3 ppg in four games against the Red Claws. Despite appearing in just 18 games with the BayHawks this season, Gerrity ranks 3rd this season in assists on the team with 79, trailing just D.J. Kennedy and Keith McLeod, each with 26 games played. His assist-to-turnover ratio of 3.04 is among the best in the league this season.
The Reno Bighorns have acquired Ernest Scott from the Rio Grande Valley Vipers in a three-team trade that sent Terrance Thomas to the Canton Charge and a third round pick in the 2012 NBA D-League draft to the Vipers.
Scott has played 136 D-League games over three seasons.
The Sioux Falls Skyforce have acquired guard Nick Covington from the available player pool. To make room for him on the roster the team waived guard Darion “Jake” Anderson.
Covington averaged 8.5 points, 2.5 rebounds and 3.2 assists in 13 games (four starts) with the Iowa Energy this season. He was originally selected by the Bakersfield Jam in the seventh round (103rd overall) of the 2011 NBA Development League Draft before being waived in training camp.
The Reno Bighorns have acquired David Palmer from the available player pool.
To make room on the roster for the acquisition, the team has waived Damon Jones.
Palmer was most recently with the Bakersfield Jam.
Jones has averaged 1.6 points and 0.7 assists in seven games with the Bighorns this season.
