Gary Payton II, Otto Porter Jr., Andre Iguodala Practice But Don't Scrimmage On Monday

May 31, 2022 1:29 AM

Gary Payton II, Otto Porter Jr., and Andre Iguodala all practiced but didn't scrimmage on Monday, according to Steve Kerr.

Kerr added that the team would get a clearer view of their status later in the week if and when they scrimmage.

Iguodala hasn't played since the first round of the playoffs due to neck issues. Payton fractured his elbow in Game 2 of the Western Conference semifinals, and Porter suffered a foot injury in Game 3 of the Western Conference Finals.

Kerr gave the Warriors two days off following their series-clinching win against the Mavs.

Game 1 of the NBA Finals takes place on Thursday.

Udonis Haslem Says Draymond Green Broke 'Code' By Predicting Warriors Would Play Celtics

May 28, 2022 1:43 AM

Udonis Haslem accused Draymond Green of breaking the "code" after Green predicted the Golden State Warriors would face the Boston Celtics in the NBA Finals.

The Heat beat the Celtics 111-103 in Game 6 to force a Game 7.

“Draymond broke the code,” Haslem told Chris Haynes of Yahoo! Sports. “You ain’t supposed to say some s--- like that. That’s disrespectful. He know better than that.”

Green made his initial remarks on "Inside the NBA" after the Warriors defeated the Mavs in Game 5 on Thursday to win the series. Shaquille O’Neal asked Green who he wanted to face in the NBA Finals.

“I’m going to tell you who I think we’re going to play. We’re going to play Boston,” said Green. “That’s who we’re going to play.”

Other Heat players chimed in on Green's comments.

“I don’t know what part of the game is that,” said P.J. Tucker. “A player picking a team before they’re out. That’s crazy, bro.”

Game 7 between the Celtics and Heat takes place on Sunday.

Duncan Robinson To Earn Final $10 Million Of Deal Only If Heat Win Title

May 26, 2022 12:28 AM

Duncan Robinson's five-year deal he signed last summer was significantly laden with incentives, according to Ira Winderman of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel.

In what was reported as a deal worth $90 million, the final $10 million are only guaranteed should the Heat win an NBA title over the next five years.

There are other metrics that Robinson needs to hit in a potential title-winning season, including averaging at least 25 minutes in 70 regular season appearances. Robinson would then have to appear in 75% of the Heat's playoff games during any title run while maintaining a 25 minute per game average.

Robinson, who has appeared in 11 of the Heat's 15 playoff games heading into Game 5, is only averaging 11.27 minutes per game during this current run.

Robinson's agent Jason Glushon has crafted several bonus-heavy deals for his clients, including Al Horford.

Horford's team option increases by $5 million should the Celtics make the NBA Finals, and increases to $12 million should they win the title.

Erik Spoelstra Following Game 4 Loss: Extreme Highs & Lows 'Part Of The Playoffs'

May 24, 2022 1:53 AM

Erik Spoelstra looked forward to Game 5 following the Miami Heat's 102-82 loss to the Boston Celtics in Game 4 of the Eastern Conference finals.

The series is now tied 2-2.

"This is part of the playoffs," said Spoelstra. "There are these extreme highs and lows, particularly when you have two teams that are pretty closely, evenly matched. But we've proven that we can find solutions offensively in a lot of different ways."

Miami's starting lineup combined to score 18 points, with PJ Tucker and Max Strus going scoreless in the game.

The Heat were dealing with several injuries heading into Game 4, including missing Tyler Herro due to a groin strain. Tucker and Jimmy Butler were hampered by knee soreness, with Kyle Lowry also slowed down by a hamstring strain.

Butler, who said he wasn't "too worried" about his knee, added that the Heat are at their best when playing simple.

"Keep the game extremely simple," said Butler. "Whenever we tend to do that, we tend to play well. "When anybody tries to hit a home run and do it by themselves, we kind of get in trouble. Ball sticks. We turn the ball over. We take a bad shot."

Game 5 is on Wednesday in Miami.
