The new rules instituted by the Chinese government on how they will allow their players to play abroad has caused some uncertainty for the future of Dallas? Wang Zhizhi and Denver?s Mengke Bateer.  Don Nelson, however, doesn?t seem to expect the same obstacles with Wang that Yao?s future team will face, writes Marc Stein for the Dallas Morning News.
"It's a different set of circumstances with Wang," he said.  "We only have one [entity] we're dealing with, and that's the Red Army."  Because Wang was a second round pick, the Mavericks are willing to put up with some inconveniences that a team that invests the first overall cannot tolerate.  The Red Army retains the right to determine when Wang can come to the States and can recall him to China whenever they want, regardless of Dallas? position.
Dallas hopes this unusual arrangement with the Red Army will stifle demand for Wang from other teams.  Teams will be less willing to offer a big contract to Wang with the uncertainty of his availability that the Red Army will create.
