Aaron J. Lopez of the Rocky Mountain News reports that the Nuggets are looking for a guard to help fill the shoes of the injured Chris Whitney. After releasing Kenny Satterfield to complete the James Posey trade, the Nuggets find themselves short handed.

Veteran guard John Crotty worked out at the Pepsi Center and could be signed by the Nuggets as soon as Sunday. "I'm out here with the idea I can work out and this is where I can spend the rest of the year," Crotty said before Denver's game against the Orlando Magic. "We'll wait and see what happens."

An MRI exam revealed that Whitney will need at least another three weeks to recover from a severely bruised ankle that he suffered on November 5th. He is wearing a removable walking boot and is scheduled for another MRI in three weeks. "That means a week and a half for me," said Whitney, who was placed on the injured list. "I cut everything in half."
