Denver Nuggets Head Coach George Karl was named Western Conference Coach of the Month for March, the NBA announced today.  Karl also earned Western Conference Coach of the Month honors for February.

Karl led the Nuggets to a 12-2 record in March ? the second-best record for a month in team history.  In 1981-82, the Nuggets went 13-2 in March.  The Nuggets went 9-1 at home and 3-1 on the road.  They posted their first winning road record in a month since April 1995.
The Nuggets had the best record in the NBA in March and put together winning streaks of five and six games.  They outscored their opponents, 109.2 ppg to 96.8 ppg.  They shot .493 from the field, while holding the opposition to .431.

This is the ninth time Karl has earned Coach of the Month honors, tying Pat Riley and Phil Jackson for the most in NBA history.  Last month, he became the first coach in league history to win Coach of the Month honors with five different teams (Cleveland, Golden State, Seattle, Milwaukee and Denver).

Stan Van Gundy won the award for the East.  Van Gundy led  the  Heat to a 12-3 month and clinched the Southeast Division title with a win over Phoenix on March 25.
