The decision to move Charlie Villanueva to small forward was done for one major reason ? it was the only way he was going to start for the Raptors.

Coach Sam Mitchell said he'd been mulling the move for a month or so and was finally able to make it last Friday after the Raptors traded Jalen Rose to the New York Knicks and opened a spot in the starting lineup.

"We saw the things he can do ? he can shoot the ball, he can handle it ? and you start thinking, the only way you've got a chance to get him on the floor as a starter is to put him at the three," said Mitchell. "Chris (Bosh) is at the four, (Villanueva is) not big enough to play the five and it's only logical."
