The Nets appeared to be lethargic and disinterested while falling behind by double digits once again, mounted several fruitless comeback attempts and lost to the Rockets, 96-89, at the Meadowlands. They fell to 9-11 overall and 4-8 at home.

Afterward, Richard Jefferson ripped the team, pointing the finger at himself first but clearly targeting every one of his teammates as well.

"It's a joke," said Jefferson, who scored 29 points. "The fact that we even have nine wins right now is amazing to me the way we've been playing. It seems we've been down double digits so many games. I don't know what to say."
