Lakers center D.J. Mbenga underwent emergency laser surgery on his eye Saturday after being hit during the team's practice.
The hit he took in the eye caused a retinal hole, according to a team spokesman.
Mbenga will miss Game 1 against Oklahoma City on Sunday and a minimum of 72 hours.
