In a statement issued Sunday, Sacramento mayor Kevin Johnson said he intends to move forward with efforts to finance and build a sports and entertainment arena in the city, despite news that the Kings have been in talks with Anaheim officials about moving south.

"I am obviously aware of the rumors and speculation about the Kings and Anaheim," Johnson said. "But I'm not aware of any deal having been completed. So as far as I'm concerned, the Kings are still Sacramento's team and deserve our full support."

Johnson made his comments 24 hours after NBA commissioner David Stern confirmed the Kings and officials with the Honda Center in Anaheim have had talks about a deal to move the team to Orange County.
