Jordan Hamilton is shooting just 30.6 percent over his last five games while surrendering big numbers on the other end.

A week ago, Colorado's Alex Burks scored many of his 33 points with Hamilton defending him. Three days later, Kansas State's Rodney McGruder scored 22 against Texas — double his average — with Hamilton assigned to him. Twice in the second half, McGruder hit critical three-point shots after Hamilton drifted away from him.

"Sometimes when (Hamilton) is not playing well offensively, he gets really impatient on both ends, where he is trying to make a great play as opposed to just staying solid," Texas coach Rick Barnes said.

The result could be a rushed shot, or a forced one, or a failed attempt to make a steal that leaves the Longhorns playing defense four against five.
