The Minnesota Timberwolves added a significant piece to their puzzle by drafting Derrick Williams with the second overall pick on Thursday night, but they will reportedly begin a coaching search soon.

It has been reported that Minnesota will officially fire Kurt Rambis after the NBA Draft, but Williams isn’t focused on the fact that he doesn’t currently have a coach.

“I’m not really focused on that right now, who the coach is or who it isn’t going to be,” he said. “I’m not really focused on that right now. I’m just going to get my body into the best shape as possible. If he’s the coach, that’s great.”

I asked Williams if he felt the addition of Ricky Rubio immediately made the Timberwolves more appealing.

“He makes them a lot better,” he said of the Spanish point guard. “Even though he has not played any games over here yet, when you have a pass-first point guard on your team, he wants to make you better.”
