Erik Spoelstra is comfortable working as head coach of the Heat despite being in the final season of his contract.

"I've been here for 16 years and I plan on being here for a while," said Spoelstra, who enters his fourth year as head coach.

Pat Riley told the Sun Sentinel last month of Spoelstra, "as long as I'm around, Erik is around."

Spoelstra doesn't believe the absence of a multi-year contract will be an issue despite coaching high-profile players such as LeBron James and Dwyane Wade.

"Nothing's going to be a distraction with this group. It's a focused group and there won't be any excuses for us.

"I don't think any of the things we go through will be a distraction, certainly not my situation."
