Aaron Gordon was diagnosed with mononucleosis on Monday, but led Archbishop Mitty to a 52-45 overtime victory over visiting Bellarmine College Prep on Tuesday in a Willis Reed-like performance.

Gordon, who is one of the top-five recruits of the college class of 2013, didn't warm up with the team and didn't enter the game until 4:37 was remaining in the third quarter.

"It's always nice to be able to bring in an All-American," head coach Tim Kennedy said. "I didn't want to play him unless we really needed him, but I felt we did."

Gordon scored 18 points during the remainder of the game.

Gordon was sick during the Torrey Pines Tournament last week in San Diego, but he averaged 27 points per game as he alternated big performances with long periods of rest. Kennedy said the worst is behind Gordon, but the Monarchs will be careful with his minutes.
