Bishop Gorman defeated No. 3 DeMatha by a final score of 73-65.

Shabazz Muhammad led Gorman with 37 points.

“Shabazz is just so physical,” said Gaels coach Grant Rice. “Last year, he was 205 pounds. He’s about 225 now and he’s been in the weight room. Even though he’s a natural wing at the next level, if he needs to go down into the post, he’s going to go down in the post. He’ll blue-collar you. He has energy. For him to play 32 minutes with guys all over him and then to windmill it with a minute left, that shows you what kind of athlete is is.”

John Calipari and Mike Krzyzewski were in attendance.

“It’s kind of hard to forget who’s there,” Muhammad said. “The first couple of minutes I had a little bit of jitters and you get going, and then you don’t know if they’re there or not. I’m just weighing my options.”
