Jeanie Buss and the Los Angeles Lakers have no plans to hire someone to replace Magic Johnson.

Rob Pelinka has been empowered by Jeanie Buss to run the Lakers' coaching search and seems to have more power now.

When Johnson stepped down at the end of the regular season, there was rampant speculation that the Lakers could pursue a number of the NBA's most prominent front office executives. There have been no actual reported links involving the Lakers and any executives.

Pelinka is the former player agent of Kobe Bryant.
