The Miami Heat have three undrafted free agents in their rotation in Duncan Robinson, Kendrick Nunn and Derrick Jones Jr., but they very nearly had a fourth in Dorian Finney-Smith.

Sources tell ESPN that Miami had the inside track to sign Finney-Smith when he went undrafted in 2016, but the Dallas Mavericks outbid them at the last second.

Miami has an excellent track record of developing players who were passed over by other teams.
