LaMelo Ball scored a career-high 34 points and added 8 assists in a 138-121 loss to the Utah Jazz on Friday night.

The 34 points are the most scored by a Hornets rookie since Alonzo Mourning in 1993.

"I'm not going to lie, I'm very impressed. Not just his playmaking ability and his competitiveness, but his joy. I don't think I have ever not seen him smile throughout the game," said Donovan Mitchell of Ball after the game.

Ball has also started the last three games after coming off the bench to start his career.

James Borrego highlighted Ball's zero turnovers in the game.

"When I see that ratio, good things are going to happen for us most times than not, no matter if the shots go in or not."
