The NBA had a condensed schedule in 20-21 after finishing up the 19-20 season in October due to the pandemic and then their desire to conclude this season before the start of the Olympics on July 22nd with the goal of returning to its traditional calendar. Whether a direct result or not, there was a historical number of games missed through injury or rest during the regular season.

Out of the 27 players who were named All-Stars this season, they missed an average of 13.7 games during the regular season. All-Stars therefore missed 19 percent of games, which was the highest percentage of missed games in league history.

LeBron James, Anthony Davis, James Harden, Kevin Durant, Donovan Mitchell and Joel Embiid were among the All-Stars who missed several weeks of the season due to injuries.
