The Detroit Pistons are finalizing a trade to acquire big man Bol Bol from the Denver Nuggets in exchange for Rodney McGruder and a second-round pick. Detroit will send Denver a 2022 second-round pick via the Brooklyn Nets.

Bol has played in just 53 games in two-plus seasons since joining the Nuggets following the 2019 NBA Draft. He was once thought to be a potential lottery pick before suffering a torn ACL in his one season at the University of Oregon. Bol will get a chance to play with the rebuilding Pistons that he never received with the Nuggets.

Bol is eligible for restricted free agency following the season.

McGruder has played in 33 games in two seasons with the Pistons. He's had a limited role for a rebuilding team deep in young guards. McGruder will be an unrestricted free agent following the season. Because he has Bird rights, McGruder will need to approve the trade to Denver.
