Disney is considering selling their linear TV business including ABC, though it still plans to keep ESPN. The NBA has aired games on ESPN and ABC for the past two decades.

"We're going to look expansively about opportunities," Iger told CNBC's David Faber during an interview on the sidelines of the Allen & Co conference in Idaho. When Faber pressed if this means a sale, Iger demurred but added that linear TV "may not be core" to Disney anymore.

Iger said ESPN is not on the sale block, stating it's a part of their business "we're looking at very differently."

Before Iger's return to Disney, there were reports that the company could sell ESPN.
