Four days after being acquired by Toronto from the New York Knicks in a deal for Jalen Rose, a first-round draft pick and cash, Antonio Davis is expected to join the Raptors for what amounts to a 34-game denouement to his 13-year NBA career.

"That's what I'm told and I don't expect anything different," Davis's agent, Bill Duffy, told the Star yesterday after team officials said Davis would practise today.

Davis was given time by the team after meeting with officials on Saturday to return to his New York home to take care of some personal business and then travel to Chicago to discuss the trade ? and his future ? with his wife Kendra and family.

He did not arrive in time to practise yesterday after telling Raptor officials he would be back yesterday or today. His absence is longer than usual for anyone involved in an NBA trade, but the Raptors cited extenuating circumstances while allowing Davis to leave for a few days.
