Don Nelson finally became the second coach in NBA history with 1,200 career wins on his fifth try when the Warriors beat the Hornets 101-80 Saturday night.

Mickael Pietrus led Golden State with 22 points, keying a run that broke the game open early in the fourth quarter. That helped Nelson join Lenny Wilkens (1,332) as the only coaches with at least 1,200 wins.

After watching his team lose consecutive games in Texas by a combined 68 points to San Antonio and Houston to extend a losing streak to four games, Nelson convened a two-day minicamp to reinforce defensive fundamentals to his struggling team.
