Official word is expected late Friday after Pitt fifth-year senior Mike Cook has an MRI on his left knee, but the Panthers' staff is expecting him to be out for the season with a torn ACL.

Pitt Coach Jamie Dixon said Cook flew back to Pittsburgh with a few members of the team and coaching staff Friday morning instead of going home to Philadelphia for the Christmas break. Cook's left knee buckled with a minute elapsed in overtime in Thursday night's 65-64 win over Duke at Madison Square Garden.

But Dixon said the team's worst fears were likely going to be realized since he was 99 percent sure it was a season-ending knee injury.
