The Bucks held center Andrew Bogut out of their preseason opener on Tuesday night as a precautionary measure.

"I'm on vacation," Bogut joked before the game against the Bulls.

Milwaukee coach Scott Skiles had discussed the possibility that Bogut could play 20 minutes against Chicago, but the center's right hand was "very" sore.

"It's a little sore," Bogut said of his surgically-repaired hand. "So I'm not going to be silly with it. Just take a couple days and make sure everything is alright."

The Bucks aren't overly concerned with Bogut's progress.

I'm not real concerned about it," Skiles said. "I would be concerned if he hadn't done much in September, but he played every day. Played five-on-five every day. He's been in practices playing but he has gotten some contact on it.

"If we had a regular-season game tonight he would play. He may or may not practice (Wednesday), I'm not sure. We just want to be real cautious with it right now in the exhibition season."
