Ivan Johnson of the Erie BayHawks and Curtis Stinson of the Iowa Energy have been named NBA Development League Co-Players of the Month for games played in February.  The honor is the first for both Johnson and Stinson, and it is also the first for Erie and Iowa this season.

Johnson, a 6-8, 230-pound forward out of Cal State San Bernardino who has worked out with the Dallas Mavericks and Minnesota Timberwolves, led Erie to a 6-2 record in February, averaging 24.5 points, 7.6 rebounds and 3.1 assists, shooting 61.2 percent from the field. An NBA D-League All-Star, Johnson scored 30 or more points three times last month, highlighted by a 37-point performance in Erie’s 125-100 win over New Mexico on Feb. 10.

Stinson, a 6-3, 215-pound guard out of Iowa State who played in the 2010 NBA Summer League with the Orlando Magic and Toronto Raptors, led Iowa to an 8-2 record last month, averaging 17.0 points, 10.4 assists and 6.7 rebounds. In addition to playing in the NBA D-League All-Star Game, Stinson scored in double figures eight times, had six games with double-digit assists and logged two triple-doubles in February.

This month’s honorable mention selections for NBA D-League Player of the Month were Austin’s Lance Thomas, Bakersfield’s Derrick Byars, Dakota’s Mike Anderson, Erie’s Tasmin Mitchell, Idaho’s Jermareo Davidson, Iowa’s Othyus Jeffers, Maine’s DeShawn Sims, New Mexico’s Shane Edwards, Reno’s Danny Green, Rio Grande Valley’s Jerel McNeal, Sioux Falls’ Patrick Ewing Jr., Springfield’s Scottie Reynolds, Texas’ Joe Alexander, Tulsa’s Elijah Millsap and Utah’s Brandon Costner.
