Kendall Marshall hopes to use the experience of being outplayed by Nolan Smith in the ACC Tournament championship game as motivation.

Marshall grew up watching Smith, who starred at a nearby high school.

So when Smith finished with a double-double, 20 points and 10 assists in the ACC game—Marshall took mental notes.

“His will to win, his heart, is tremendous,” the freshman said. “You see how much he hurt after we beat them (in Chapel Hill). He’s trying to make winning plays out there, and he does, on a daily basis. That basically shows me that if I ever want to get to that level and be the player he is, I’ve got a long way to go.”
