Union secretary-treasurer James Jones was not present for Wednesday's scaled-down collective bargaining agreement negotiations, but spoke of the gap between the sides.

"We're very far apart," Jones said on a Wednesday appearance on WQAM. "There's always a chance of a deal being reached, because these things can move fast, especially as you start to get up against the clock. I think football showed everyone."

Training camps are scheduled to open October 3rd.

"We're polar opposites right now," Jones said. "Unless something serious happens, I expect for us to miss some time."
