Carmelo Anthony reflected on good friend and New Orleans Hornets point guard Chris Paul, who was about to be traded to the Los Angeles Lakers on Thursday before the NBA stepped in and nixed the deal.

"It's an unfortunate situation. It's sad. I feel bad for him," Anthony said. "From what I'm hearing, the trade was done, it was going through and he was excited about it. … I think the NBA picked the right saying, the NBA is where amazing happens."

While the idea of Paul joining the Knicks has been discussed, Anthony never took the idea too seriously.

"We laugh and joke about it. We laugh and talk about it. We hear the rumors about him coming," Anthony said. "I really didn't see how that was going to happen, him getting here unless I got traded or Amar'e got traded. I really didn't see that happening."
