As of Wednesday, Tyson Chandler was ready to sign with the New Jersey Nets or Golden State Warriors.

“New York wasn’t even on my radar,” he said.

Things moved quickly for the Knicks and Chandler once they gave up their pursuit of Chris Paul and began to think creatively about the cap.

Mike D'Antoni had long thought highly of Tyson Chandler's game and had raised his name many times.

“This deal came together pretty quickly,” interim general manager Glen Grunwald said. “It is a crazy start to the season, but I think it’s been a very successful one.”

The Knicks will now have their strongest lineup during the tenure of D'Antoni.

“I think we’re as good or better than anybody in the league,” he said.

“Our dreams came true. We were able to get Tyson. We can start to build a team.”
