Monta Ellis believes he is ready to take the next step as a leader, making a fresh start with new head coach Mark Jackson.

"This summer, what I worked on is my attitude. Being more patient. Trying not to get down too much," Ellis said. "Things are going to happen, but at the end of the day, just know that we left it all on the court and played together as a team. Continue to lift my teammates up."

"I think he's a leader," Jackson said. "It's just a question of being a leader full time. And sometimes, people haven't been taught the right way to do things. I'll help him in that situation. It's about holding him accountable."
