Four NBA scouts have requested credentials for entry to Iona’s Robins Center to evaluate Scott Machado, who leads the nation in assists (10.4 apg).

The 6-foot-1 senior from New York last season ranked second nationally (7.5 apg) in that category.

He averages 15.4 points, but following Monday's practice, Machado said the first thing he examines when he receives a postgame box score is turnovers. He enters every game gunning for at least 10 assists.

"(NBA scouts) like how he's leading the team, how his vision on the court is, and his improved shooting ability," second-year Iona coach Tim Cluess said.
