The Knicks have not contacted Phil Jackson about their head coaching position as of last week, according to people close to the former head coach of the Lakers and Bulls.

James Dolan, owner of the Knicks, has already begun to discuss a multi-year deal with Mike Woodson.

Woodson is seen as the more conservative option as he will adapt to the culture of Madison Square Garden. Woodson even fired his longtime agent at the urging of Dolan.

Jackson has frequently clashed with ownership as he is well-known for his independent thinking.
