The New York Knicks have two available roster spots for training camp players and Chris Copeland had the first standout performance amongst a group of six during the preseason.

Copeland scored 21 points with four rebounds in 19 minutes against the Celtics on Saturday.

“I was learning on the fly, honestly,” said Copeland. “I’ve seen it a lot in practice, and I know Coach preaches being versatile for me, so that’s what I tried to do.”

Jason Kidd was impressed with Copeland’s play.

“His name was called, and he responded, and that’s a true professional,” Kidd said. “It’s great to see. He has been working extremely hard in camp, and it showed.”

Wit the Knicks' frontcourt dealing with a variety of injuries and conditioning issues, Copeland could play minutes early in the regular season should he make the team.
