The Cleveland Cavaliers have fired Chris Grant as general manager.

Grant replaced Danny Ferry as GM in 2010.

Grant was responsible for drafting Kyrie Irving first overall in 2011, but made a series of questionable draft picks in Tristan Thompson, Dion Waiters and Anthony Bennett. Grant also pushed for the Cavaliers to rehire Mike Brown this season.

Dan Gilbert wanted the Cavaliers to become a playoff team this season, but they have struggled and lost at home to a short-handed Los Angeles Lakers' team on Wednesday.

David Griffin has been named interim general manager of the Cavaliers.
