Kelvin Sampson has become a leading candidate to replace James Dickey as head coach at the University of Houston.

Sampson took Oklahoma to the 2002 Final Four and had 18 consecutive winning seasons at Washington State, Oklahoma and Indiana.

Sampson has interviewed for several NBA head coaching jobs in recent years and is well-regarded within NBA circles. Sampson is currently an assistant coach with the Houston Rockets.

Mike Davis is another candidate for the job.
