Steve Kerr is expected to decide by Monday whether he will accept a head coaching job with the New York Knicks or Golden State Warriors.

Kerr told a close associate on Wednesday that he was leaning toward the Knicks. Kerr met with Phil Jackson two weeks ago about the Knicks' position.

Kerr lives in San Diego and his daughter attends Cal-Berkeley.

“There is really nothing more to learn about the Knicks,” said one league executive who is close to Kerr. “I’m sure the Knicks have already made an offer. Obviously, he has family considerations, and perhaps staying in California appeals to him."

The Warriors have reached out to additional candidates.

Kerr has no reservations about working with Jackson, but the concern could be in regards to how long he remains with the Knicks or if James Dolan may take away some of his power.

Kerr has a strong relationship with Joe Lacob and could also be given some power over personnel moves.
