French forward Joffrey Lauvergne is finalizing a two-year guaranteed contract with the Denver Nuggets worth greater than the NBA’s minimum salary, a league source told RealGM.

Lauvergne’s deal will include a third season under a team option, a source said.

For the Nuggets’ deal with Lauvergne, the two sides are awaiting the final hurdle of the 6-foot-11 big man receiving his work visa. Lauvergne will make his move into the NBA after averaging 9.4 points and 4.4 rebounds for Khimki in the VTB league this season.

The Nuggets traded for Lauvergne’s rights in the 2013 NBA Draft with the 55th overall selection. He is a four-time champion overseas — two titles in the French Cup and two in the basketball league of Serbia.
