The NBA and NBPA have agreed to change the 36 and over rule to a 38 and over rule. Under the existing collective bargaining agreement, teams were prohibited from signing older players to longer contracts.

The rule will benefit the likes of Chris Paul, LeBron James and Carmelo Anthony, who were part of the NBPA's executive committee.

Paul will be a free agent in 2017 while James and Anthony can become free agents again in 2018.
