Ryan McDonough spoke publicly about the Phoenix Suns' interest in DeMarcus Cousins the day after he was traded by the Sacramento Kings to the New Orleans Pelicans.

“We would have traded for him at the right price,” said McDonough. “We didn’t want to break up our young core to get him.”

The Suns could have offered Cousins an opportunity to reunite with his former Kentucky teammate Eric Bledsoe.

Phoenix are owed a number of picks from the Miami Heat along with their own that they could have used to trade for Cousins.

According to a source that spoke with Kevin O'Connor of The Ringer, the Suns offered a package of players and multiple first round picks.
