The New York Knicks are unlikely to have enough cap space to pursue a max contract player.

While the Knicks have been linked to Jrue Holiday and Jeff Teague, they're estimated to only have $19 million in cap space. Both players figure to command a starting salary above that number.

If New York trades Carmelo Anthony, it can bring back as little as $20,915,008 to send out Anthony’s $26,243,760. That would free up a little over $5 million.

Phil Jackson has talked about keeping the likes of Ron Baker, Justin Holiday, Maurice Ndour and Marshall Plumlee.
