The Cleveland Cavaliers will soon meet with Chauncey Billups to discuss becoming their president of basketball operations.

The Cavaliers and David Griffin parted ways on Monday after they were unable to agree upon a new contract.

If the Cavaliers hire Billups, he would also hire a general manager with day-to-day front office experience.

Billups has a strong relationship with both Dan Gilbert and Ty Lue. Gilbert and Billups became friendly with their ties to Detroit.

Billups currently works as an analyst with ESPN.

ESPN's Marc Stein reports Justin Zanik will be a candidate to join the Cavaliers' front office working under Billups.
