David Griffin and the New York Knicks are progressing towards a deal to become their next general manager.

Griffin traveled to New York this weekend to meet with Steve Mills.

Griffin is also expected to meet with James Dolan.

Mills made the decision to sign Tim Hardaway Jr. to a four-year, $71 million offer sheet while they search for a general manager.

Griffin wants to hire his own front office and staff to the Knicks if he's hired.

Griffin spent three years as the Cavaliers' general manager, beginning in 2014, until his departure in June.
