JaMychal Green and the Memphis Grizzlies are not close to agreeing upon a long-term deal.

Green has until Sunday to accept the $2.8 million qualifying offer from the Grizzlies. If Green accepts the qualifying offer, he will become an unrestricted free agent next summer.

“We’re not going to go into negotiations. That’s been our policy with any player,” Grizzlies general manager Chris Wallace said.

“Everyone knows how we feel about him. I love him. He knows that,” David Fizdale said. “The fact that I was willing to start him over an All-Star (Zach Randolph) means my actions say enough about how I feel about him. Right now, I have to coach the living, the guys on the court.”

Said center Marc Gasol: “He’s somebody we really need in today’s NBA. I hope he gets here soon.”
