Joel Embiid has cleared the concussion protocol but will not play in Game 2 against the Heat.

Brett Brown admitted the 76ers don't have a clear idea of when Embiid will return.

Embiid suffered a broken orbital bone and concussion in a collision with teammate Markelle Fultz on March 28. He underwent surgery to repair the fracture and has been sidelined since.

Between Game 2 and Game 3, Embiid may participate in on-court work with members of the coaching staff or players who are not in the regular rotation.

"That's part of Joel's return-to-play plan," Brown said.

Embiid previously said he's is optimistic about playing in Game 2 or Game 3.
