The Dallas Mavericks have declined their $5 million team option on Dirk Nowitzki.

The decision will create additional cap space for the Mavericks to sign DeAndre Jordan.

The Mavericks can use the cap-room exception of $4.4 million to re-sign Nowitzki.

Nowitzki had surgery to clean up bone spurs in his left ankle in April.
