Justise Winslow believes he is "getting close" to agreeing to a contract extension with the Miami Heat.

Players selected in the first round of the 2015 NBA Draft have until Oct. 15 to agree to extensions, otherwise they will become restricted free agents on July 1.

Winslow has also been mentioned in trade talks with the Wolves for Jimmy Butler.

"There's been talks. We're getting close," Winslow said. "I think it should get done."

Last year, four former first-round picks received rookie-scale extension by the October deadline: Andrew Wiggins, Joel Embiid, Gary Harris and T.J. Warren.

An NBA official from another team said he expected Winslow to move into 2019 free agency because of the surplus of expected salary-cap space around the league.
