Juwan Howard has reached agreement on a five-year contract to be the next head coach of Michigan.

Howard will replace John Beilein as head coach.

Howard became the front-runner once Providence's Ed Cooley withdrew from consideration and announced he was returning to the Friars.

Howard has been an assistant coach for the Miami Heat since 2013. Howard has also been a head coaching candidate for several NBA jobs.

Howard was a member of the Fab Five at Michigan and then played 19 seasons in the NBA.
