The Golden State Warriors were prepared to pitch Kevin Durant on a long-term contract this offseason with the understanding that they would grant him a trade should he wish to leave the team at any point, according to a source that spoke with Frank Isola of The Athletic.

The Warriors could still discuss that type of scenario with Durant even with him likely out most if not all of the 19-20 season.

Durant has been most strongly linked with the New York Knicks throughout the season.

Durant has signed a series of one-plus-one contract since joining the Warriors in 2016.
