The Los Angeles Lakers needed a July 30th completion of their Anthony Davis trade with the New Orleans Pelicans to have approximately $32 million in cap space. With the current expected completion date, the Lakers will likely have approximately $24 million in cap space.

"Right now, it looks like they would probably want to break up that $23 million, $24 million to bring in multiple players. And given how barren the rest of the roster is right now, they don't even have a starting 5, that's probably the better route for the Lakers to go," said Adrian Wojnarowski.

The Lakers were initially linked with pursuing Kemba Walker following news of the agreed upon Davis trade.
