The Los Angeles Lakers never broached the issue of timing the execution of the Anthony Davis trade, according to sources.

The Lakers will have just $23.6 million in cap space if the trade is executed on July 6th, but $32.5 million if executed in August.

The Lakers also could have asked Anthony Davis to waive his $4.1 milloin trade kicker.

The Lakers are now working on involving a third team to create a max salary slot with a July 6th target.

Ramona Shelburne of ESPN also reported similarly on The Jump.

"My understanding is it was not (discussed)," said Shelburne. "It went all the way down the road and it was more it has been described to me as a 'the Lakers called back after everything.'"
